Photoforum Live: Debbie Cooper and Sian Bonnell
PhotoForum Live is a series of inspirational talks between leading photographers, curators, producers and industry professionals which will take place every Tuesday at 3PM throughout June and July.
Artist, curator and producer Debbie Cooper will be in conversation with artist Sian Bonnell on 23rd June at 3.00pm.
Debbie Adele Cooper is an artist, curator and producer, working for FORMAT International Festival as a producer, Digital Artist Training Curator for QUAD, and is the manager of the Photographic Collections Network.
Debbie has written and delivered mass participation, public engagement, and produced exhibitions for QUAD and FORMAT and taken these projects to China, India and Australia.
Debbie is also an artist; her work is based around photography, sculpture, sound and installation – influenced by historical stories, materials, and practices. She explores old and new processes interconnecting these with digital and new technologies, and regularly teaches glass dry plate photography at Street Level Photoworks in Glasgow.
Debbie has been artist in residence at many notable organisations and archives including Dartmoor Prison, W W Winter Photography, NHS Ayrshire. She has had work commissioned by museums and local authorities, and has exhibited her work widely in China.
Sian Bonnell is a UK based artist, living and working in West Yorkshire. Her work is concerned with photography and its relations with performance/performing for the camera; sculpture/the object and the camera; the dissemination of the photograph with regard to curation, publishing and the book and its relations with other disciplines such as medicine and social science.
Her work is held in many public and corporate collections notably, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Texas, the Ransom Center, Texas and the Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris. She is currently Reader in Wilful Amateurism in the School of Fashion, at Manchester Metropolitan University.
This Photoforum talk will take place via Zoom and will be live streamed to the FORMAT Facebook page.
