FORMAT19 will open on the 14th March with Exhibition Previews taking place across the city of Derby. Venues opening their doors from 17.00pm include QUAD, Market Hall, Derby Museum & Art Gallery, BEAR, Artcore, St Werburgh’s Chapel, Pickford’s House, Eagle Markt Intu, Tramshed, Déda, Banks Mill, Furthest from the Sea, Unfold Arts.
Don’t miss the official opening of FORMAT19, which starts at 17.30pm in QUAD where speeches will be given by Adam Buss, Councillor Grimadell, Louise Fedotov-Clements and Mark Done (Arts Council England). Over at the Derby Market Hall Craig Easton will introduce the UK wide project SIXTEEN at 18.30pm and at 19.15pm, Senior Curator at the V&A, Martin Barnes along with Tony Butler will present the Maurice Broomfield show at the Derby Museum and Art Gallery. Be sure to head to the Tramshed by 20.00pm to hear Gemma Marmalade and Patron of FORMAT Brian Griffin.
The FORMAT19 Photobook Market at the Derby Museum and Art Gallery on the Wardwick will also be open to visitors, and the Scanning Social will copy your own childhood and teenage photographs, flyers and paper ephemera to be added to the collections of the Museum of Youth Culture.
Over at the Smallprint Company, The Office of Revised Futures will be performing a live intervention as the five artists, Lewis Bush, Melinda Gibson, Hannah Hughes, Fernando Martin Gody and Mark Murphy work together on a collaborative installation.
After visiting the previews and listening to the speeches, drop in the Bustler for the FORMAT19 After Party and catch DJ Paul Lowe, special guest performance by Elvis (Bobby Aaron Diamond). Bustler bar & street food market, Freedom Brewery craft beers, premium gins & cocktail menu, Inc Deckards, pan-Asian Bao buns, Street Chef, halloumi fries & more.
