Check out the poster for dates and venues.
Parallel was established in 2016 by Procur.arte, Lisbon to provide emerging artists and curators the opportunity to show their projects in cultural institutions throughout Europe.
30 artists and 6 curators are selected from an annual Open Call and the successful applicants enter the Parallel Platform Program which includes face to face tutoring sessions; on and off line mentoring sessions; weekend workshops and the production of new work ready for inclusion in exhibitions.
The 6 curators are given an opportunity to select work from these artists for their own curated concept at a Parallel gathering.
The final curated exhibitions are shown at cultural institutions across Europe before all being exhibited at the concluding Parallel Review in Lisbon where one of the exhibitions is chosen by a jury of industry experts for the Parallel Award.
Parallel is supported by 18 European cultural hubs: museums, galleries, festivals and publishers. These associates of Parallel provide tutoring, mentoring, publishing and exhibiting opportunities for the Parallel artists and curators.
FORMAT QUAD is one of the 18 participating vibrant European cultural hubs from 16 countries.
