Born in Wales Abbie Trayler-Smith is a documentary and portrait photographer. In her early career she worked for The Daily Telegraph, covering world events such as the Darfur conflict, the Iraq war and the Asian tsunami.
The big O, Abbie’s long term project exploring childhood obesity was recognised with the World Press Photo Awards: 2nd Prize Staged Portraits and the IdeasTap Magnum Photographic Award.
Trayler-Smith has exhibited widely including at the National Open Art Exhibition, Somerset House, London; Bursa FotoFest, Turkey; Portrait Salon London and Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize at The National Portrait Gallery, London.
She is a founding member of the Welsh Photography Collective: A Fine Beginning, which showcases photography created in Wales and works for clients including Time, The Sunday Times, The Independent Review, Marie-Claire, Tatler, Monocle, Vice, Oxfam, Save The Children, IRC, UNICEF, Sony and BBC.
