Dávid Biró

Dávid Biró is a visual artist based in Budapest, Hungary. He graduated with a BA in Photograhy from the University of Kaposvár and his MA in Photography from the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME).

His main interest is the influence of the newest technological environment on human behaviour and society. He attempts to detect the blind spots of the technology and to elude the system using various hacks. He takes the ethical issue of observation and being the one who is observed in the discussion, which is unquestionably one of the most important dilemmas of our time. This attitude gains a critical reading of techno-positivist and techno-spiritualist approach, which is dominated by social media, the thirst of information, influential propaganda and AI-driven data-mining.

His aim as a visual artist and photographer is to map the blind spots in our contemporary systems and to find the room to bypass the algorithm, be offline and live with the challenges created by our renewable tools.

He was represented in several national and international exhibitions. He is part of the Futures photography platform and the finalist of the ING Unseen Talent Award in 2018. Biró won the Association of Hungarian Photographers: Photography Scholarship for 2017 and the National Scholarship of Hungary in 2015-2016.

As a member of a group exhibition, he won the ON_AWARD grand prize of the OFF_Festival Bratislava Contemporary Photography Festival in 2014.

Biró is represented by Trapéz Gallery, Budapest.
