David De Beyter’s approach to photography is both conceptual and documentary. He explores the boundaries between reality and fiction and his work melts together different registers – the present, past and future. His artistic work is mainly based on the concept of landscape practice(s).
He develops photographic, video and sculptural projects, presented in exhibitions as immersive spaces. He is a graduate of the La Cambre photography workshop and the Fresnoy National Studio of Contemporary Arts.
De Beyter’s projects have been exhibited in France at the Frac Grand-Large, the Rencontres de la Photographie d’Arles, the art center Image/Imatge and the CPIF – Centre photographique d’île de France but also internationally in institutions with the FOAM Talent 2018, Musée de l’Elysée, Fotomuseum de Winterthur.
He was nominated for the Louis Roederer Discovery Award in 2019 and his first book, Damaged Inc, was published in 2018 by RVB Books. His second book, Build and Destroy, was published by RVB Books in 2022.
