Uruguayan photographer, Federico Estol graduated from the Image and Multimedia Technology Centre of Politechnic University of Catalonia – Barcelona Tech. He is currently working as artistic director of the San Jose Foto festival, promoting the Photobook Club Montevideo and as editor of El Ministerio Ediciones publishing house.
Estol has been selected for many photography festivals including Noorderlicht Photo Festival; Athens Photo Festival; Les Rencontres de Arles; Brighton Photo Fringe; PhotoIreland; Tbilisi Photo Festival; Indian Photo Festival and Kaunas Photo.
His work has been exhibited at Aperture Foundation, New York; Fundación Atchugarry, Punta del Este; FOLA, Buenos Aires; Contemporary Art Space, Montevideo; MACRO Museum, Rome and GNration, Braga.
Estol’s projects and books are held in private and public collections including by the Tate Modern, London; Museum of Fine Arts in Houston; Museu da Fotografia in Fortaleza and the Tbilisi Photography & Multimedia Museum.
He has received several awards, grants and scholarships and was honoured with the Latin American Photobook award by CDF of Montevideo 2014, the IILA Photography award in Rome 2016, FELIFA International photobook award 2018.
