Jamie E. Murray is a photographer based in south west England. He received a BA in Documentary Photography from the University of Newport in 2014 and is now studying towards his MA at University of West of England, Bristol.
His work weaves a narrative drawn from the experience of individuals living and working within institutional systems. For his project Albatross Murray spent time with the Royal Navy away on deployment photographing the everyday lives of the sailors and the ship they lived and worked on.
The work combines the physical and psychological experiences of the crew. Alongside Albatross Murray is photographing prisons and through the experiences of men who have spent a long time in jail, he will tell their stories of a life shut away from the world.
