Lo Lai Lai Natalie was born in Hong Kong. Lai Lai is a former travel journalist who finds her interests in food, farming, plant intelligence, fermentation, surveillance, and meditation. She has a farming practice, using photography, video, and installation as a means to interact with nature. Her artworks are part of collector Dr. Uli Sigg’s private collection and the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco.
Lai Lai’s artworks have been showcased internationally. She is the FORMAT25 Open Call Exhibiting Artist. She participated in the Lahore Biennale 03 in 2024. She received the WMA Commission Grant on the theme of Opportunity in Hong Kong, and she was the Gold Award recipient in the Media Art Category of the 26th ifva Award, Hong Kong, in 2021. Her artwork received an honorary mention in “State of the ART(ist)” at the Ars Electronica Festival 2024.
Lo Lai Lai Natalie earned her Bachelor of Art (Fine Arts) and Master of Fine Arts from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She is currently a PhD candidate at the School of Creative Media, City University of Hong Kong. She delves into ecological art practices in Hong Kong, and focuses on the burgeoning movement of artist-farmers re-engaging with the land, exploring alternative living and artistic practices in response to contemporary challenges in Hong Kong over the past decade.
