Professor Kathryn Mitchell DL joined the University of Derby as Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive in September 2015.
The University has sites in Derby, Buxton and Chesterfield and was awarded Gold in the government’s Teaching Excellence and Student Outcomes Framework. In addition, Kathryn is the Chair of the Derby Opportunity Area Board and has been appointed a Deputy Lieutenant in Derbyshire.
Prior to joining Derby, Kathryn was Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University of West London and has spent much of her career in the Higher Education sector, as a Wellcome Fellow at the Institute of Psychiatry, London and has worked at the University of Chicago, The Rockefeller Institute, New York and the Friedrich Meischer Institute, Basel.
