FORMAT and LCB Depot are delighted to announce an Open Call for international artists to submit work for an exhibition as part of FORMAT24 Presents. We welcome diverse and imaginative proposals and projects from photographers and artists that relate to the theme Future Now. Selected artists will have the opportunity to exhibit their work in QUAD’s Extra Gallery Spaces in Derby and LCB Depot in Leicester.

Photography often facilitates a journey through time. At a more fundamental level, photography allows us to capture people, places and objects that might have been lost to history, giving us an unprecedented ability to reconstruct images of the past and revive our memories far into the future. Photography is taking a more active role throughout history. Future Now would hope to connect with the future through the imagination of photography.

We are open to all approaches and ideas – from archives to the most contemporary and conceptual projects. We are keen to receive proposals from artists working across different media and themes, including: photographic series and single images; film/ video; long term researched documentary projects; multimedia (such as VR; online and interactive work); installation projects; publications; performances; and participatory projects. Work submitted must be finished projects and ready to display by the exhibition date.

The FORMAT and LCB team along with a selected jury of photography professionals will view all submissions and select a number of artists to be exhibited in the LCB Depot gallery in Leicester. FORMAT will select up to 3 projects from UK based artists to be exhibited in QUAD’s Extra Gallery Spaces (16 March – 30 June 2024) during FORMAT24 Presents. Work chosen for the exhibition will need to be delivered to the designated venue by Monday 4 March 2024. Details for international entries will be discussed with the successful applicant.

To apply please complete the following Google Form by Sunday 18 February 2024, 11:59 pm GMT.
