Andy Fell is a photographer and informal educator in the UK.
His socially engaged, participatory photography practice is informed by his professional youth & community work training and his work with young people and marginalised communities.
Andy is concerned with relationships, identity, equality, collaborative process & production, and work that enables individuals and communities to tell stories, share experiences, and raise questions, bringing about awareness and conversations.
His MA Photography series ‘check yourself’ shares a story of race, sexuality, masculinity and identity produced through participatory photography practice. It challenges us to consider that as a result of racist ideology, all of us have myths and stereotypes about Black people, which, if left unchallenged, impact our actions. ‘check yourself’ shares the dialogue.
