Martin is an artist from Belfast, Northern Ireland. He studied at The University of Brighton where he now teaches photography.
His practice is shaped by his upbringing in Northern Ireland. Personal narratives, the relationship to place, politics, conflict, sameness and difference, diaspora and myth are underlying themes that recur and interconnect in his work. As part of his practice he experiments with combinations of analogue and digital imaging technologies to draw attention to the complex and conflicting experiences of identity, history and culture.
He has exhibited in the UK and internationally including at the Irish Cultural Centre in Paris; The Photographers Gallery London; East London Photo Festival; Brighton Photo Fringe; Tokyo Institute of Photography Photo Book Show; ByrdCliffe AIR Programme New York and Cork Photo Festival.
