Mitchell Moreno (pronouns they/them/their) grew up in Leicester, UK. After studying at Cambridge University and the Royal Academy of Music, they worked for over a decade in theatre, opera and circus as a performer and director.
From 2017 they refocused their creative practice around photography, in which they are self-taught.
Their work explores the construction of gender, the queer gaze, and the psychotherapeutic scope of the creative process. They support themselves by working as a builder and decorator.
Their project Body Copy was shown at the Copenhagen Photo Festival and is due to be shown at Photofusion in 2021. Moreno attended the East Meets West Masterclass Programme, 2020 and was winner of the Select Award 2018 at Photofusion Gallery, London.
In 2019 Moreno was included in the Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize exhibition, at the National Portrait Gallery, London.
