EAST MEETS WEST 24/25

EAST MEETS WEST is a bespoke professional development programme produced biennially by FORMAT Festival and QUAD in partnership with GRAIN Projects.   During 2024/25 twenty emerging artists and photographers were awarded places and have taken part in a series of masterclasses led by industry and artform professionals and leading practitioners.

The masterclass programme operates a national open call recruitment and is for UK based artists and photographers.  It offers professional development, inspiration, guidance and support in a collaborative learning space in order to allow participants to develop their practice, networks and new unique opportunities.  Peer to peer support is encouraged and participants are supported to create a collaborative public outcome.

During FORMAT 2025 the artists and photographers from the East Meets West programme will present their work publicly for the first time.  The activities will feature new work and will be co-curated and produced by the recent cohort for the FORMAT audience.

The participants in this year’s programme are;  Amina El-Edroos,  Amy D’Agorne, Anu Gamanagari, Daniel Moriarty, Dawn Rodgers, Ell Hammond, Gemma Briggs, Jai Toor, Johannes Pretorius, Lewis Oldham, Maria Reaney, Nicholas Priest , Philip Singleton, Rebecca Orleans, Rita Pena, Sylwia Ciszewska-Peciak, Tracey Thorne, Tudor Etchells, Tyler Ashford, Valerii Konkov.
